Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo has asked Nigeria’s
President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019, accusing him
of nepotism and lacking an understanding of the “dynamics of internal
politics.”
Although Buhari has not publicly said he would be seeking
re-election, reports say governors from his ruling All Progressives
Congress have asked him to.
Obasanjo, who led Africa’s most populous country from 1999 to 2007,
supported Buhari’s ascension to the country’s top post and has
previously defended his performance.
